San Luis Obispo County Schools
We have an excellent school system in our
county. The following 2000 API scores show how our schools compare to each
other and to other schools in the state.
The Academic Performance Index (API)
Under the API system, the vast majority of
California schools have received an API score for the school as a whole and for
each “numerically significant” subgroup of pupils categorized by ethnicity and
poverty. An API score is a one-number summary of test scores, with various tests
receiving various weights in the index. To be “numerically significant,” a
subgroup must have 100 students or have 30 students that constitute 15% of the
school’s student body.
API Scores For San Luis Obispo County Schools
The API is calculated students' combined results of the
Stanford 9 exam. After going through a series of calculations the scores
are given on a scale from 200 to 1,000.
State ranking is givein in deciles on a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest. A ranking of 1 means the school is in the first decile or 1 to 10 percent (the bottom of the scale). A ranking of 10 means the school is in the tenth decile or 90 to 100 percent (the top of the scale).
An * means that an API was not calculated for these schools because they have fewer than 100 students with valid Stanford 9 scores.
